Mercedes-Benz 2008 C-Class Stars in Exhilarating Chase Scene in Disney's NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS

Nicolas Cage’s National Treasure movie featured several American Historical things and places, and now in its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Benjamin Franklin Gates explores London riding the equally adventurous Mercedes Benz C-Class. If you think the Buckingham Palace and the Southwark Bridge are already London’s greatest contribution to the film, you are definitely mistaken. These majestic landmarks are only used as props for the film’s daredevil chase, and it's what you will be astonished of. The motion picture will hit cinemas nationwide on December 21.
"The tremendous scale and excitement of this scene in NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS was the perfect opportunity for the new 2008 C-Class Sport to demonstrate its exceptional athleticism and agility," said Stephen Cannon, vice president of marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA. "The C-Class was tested and punished mercilessly during the shoot, and came through with flying colors. It will be a real spectacle to witness its abilities on the big screen."
London’s most historical car chase was of course made from lots of road closings and special effects. In fact, the film director, Jon Turteltaub and veteran hit movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer used a total of 40 stunt people, 70 logistic support vehicles, 50 extras and nine cameras. Once again, Jerry Bruckheimer had proven that he is not frugal with his film noting that the Book of Secrets did not only use one Mercedes Benz C-Class but a total of six! The car worth almost $37,000 each was customized with cameras and other film gadgets for stunt driving.
"We did take after take after take - thankfully the Mercedes held up wonderfully," said producer Jerry Bruckheimer. "London has so many one-way streets, and there are so many things that can go wrong, but the C-Class handled it. The great ability and agility of the car really helped."
I love the first film and I won’t miss this follow up. Even my Acura Integra AC with its Acura Integra AC condenser could not cool it down.
